Kate said WHERE!
The first thing I think of is the childhood nursery rhyme, Where O Where Has My Little Dog Gone – Where O Where Can He Be?
But we are going to go somewhere else – one of my all-time favorite Bible Stories…
Ruth and Naomi
I have five minutes to tell the story. Ready?
Naomi and her husband left Bethlehem (the house of bread) during a famine. They went to the pagan country of Moab (the house of dead). There, their two sons grew up and married Moabitess women. One Orpah and one Ruth.
Well, lo and behold, Mr. Naomi died; the two sons died. Now, it was just the girls left. Naomi says I must get out of Moab because it is a well of bitter water. And, she plans to make the trip back to Bethlehem.
She tells her daughters-in-love to stay with their families. Orpah decides to stay but, Ruth.
That Ruth…says to Naomi, “Where you go I will go and your God will be my God.”
Best decision Ruth ever made. Because WHERE they went brought restoration, repair, and HOPE.
And, as we all know HOPE CHANGES EVERYTHING.
Welcome to the lineage of Jesus, sister Ruth – beauty really does come from the ash heap.
