It’s that magical day again – Friday! I’m looking out my window at the snow swirling in the wind gusts, which are extremely strong this morning. It is cold and the windows in our 60+ year old farmhouse are rattling and if you put your hand on the opening where the windows lock together I can feel very cold air rushing through! I am grateful to be in my home office, at my day job, sipping on a hot cup of coffee, our 14-pound fuzzy fur ball dog lying in “his office chair” and, today, all is right in my world! Thank You, Lord!
Today is #FMF: Five Minute Friday, and I’m joining the community of writers over at Kate Motaung’s place for the flash mob write-a-thon. One word, five minutes. Today’s word:
We wait in hope for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
In Him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in You. Psalm 33.20-22
Ready – Set – Go!
I propose to you today that the word WAIT is synonymous with the word WHAT.
WHAT, you say?
I’ll tell you a little story, a true story that happened to a very dear friend of mine. After 46 years of marriage her husband told her one fine April day to get the #$%^&@ out of their house. Yes, he did that. She called me on the phone hysterical. This friend is a strong believer and Christian woman, her husband was not (could you tell?).
This friend got her (solo) life together, worked two jobs, rented a small apartment and really put feet to her faith and kept doing the “next thing.” One day, in a bout of confusion and frustration and (probably) annoyance, she cried out to the Lord during her personal worship time.
Oh God – what are You doing? What am I supposed to be doing? I am tired of waiting – tell me what to do!
God very softly said, “WHAT – DO WHAT.”
What on earth, Lord, what does that mean? WHAT.
At this precise moment, she was impressed to look down in her lap at her open Bible, to the scripture above. Again, Holy Spirit said, “WHAT.” She looked and the heavenly light bulb went on!
It’s now in God’s Thesaurus. Another meaning for WAIT? Is WHAT.
