Kate said, “Value.”
That’s a loaded word. VALUE.
What is considered to have great value in today’s culture?
Wealth?
Fame?
Position?
Power?
There is nothing wrong with having money as long as money doesn’t “have” you.
There is nothing wrong with being famous as long as it’s for something of benefit and kindness.
There is nothing wrong with being in a place of position as long as you use it well.
There is nothing wrong with having power as long as you don’t use it to wield evil or wickedness.
VALUE – what do I consider valuable?
First, the salvation that faith in Jesus Christ assures me. #1
My husband. My family. My job. My testimony and witness. My ministry
These are the things I value most.
The chorus that comes to mind…
Lord, You are more precious than silver. Lord, You are more costly than gold. Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds. Nothing I desire compares to You.
What is it that you value?
How sweet to be reminded of the old song this morning! It’s true, isn’t it? As I thought on the prompt, I came to realize how deeply I value the Scriptures. xo
Joanne, my mom was such an example of “value.” She had no earthly treasures but her value? Bibles, devotionals, journals, and photos.
I was nodding my head in agreement as I read your post. I’ve had wealth and lost it. It doesn’t satisfy and can easily be taken away. I also value my relationship with Jesus, my family, and my faith. Visiting from FMF #9
We are in total agreement then, aren’t we?!
Jesus is definitely the most valuable of all! Other things can distract us at times but he is what really matters!
When all is said and done? HE IS THE ONE AND ONLY VALUE. xo
Love this!
But, of course!
Love this! Your mention of the chorus, “More Precious than Silver,” was so fitting. Nothing I desire can compare with Him.
Jerralea, I always loved that chorus. You?
Thank you for sharing that beautiful old song. I just had to go listen to it now (what a blessing Youtube can be sometimes!) There in the verse: “Who can weigh the value of knowing You…” Amen. Nothing else can compare in value to Him.
Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
Love this, Susan.
Something I rea just a couple of hours ago may fit, as well, in ‘value’:
“The only thing that you can simultaneously give and keep is your word.”
There is value in THAT. Amen.
