Kate said touch
The power of touch. We have seen videos where a fussy, preemie baby is lying in a bassinet all alone and then someone puts their finger in the wee hole to touch that sweetness and baby responds with a peaceful pose. Or, remember years ago the photo that circulated of the doctor doing in vitro surgery and the baby’s hand leaves the birth sack and holds his finger?
My daughter’s lifetime friend fell last week – she was running after her dog at dusk on a poorly maintained neighborhood road with loose asphalt and gravel. She was in flip-flops, tripped and fell, sustaining injuries to her face and hands. Scrapes, bruises, a bleeding eye, punctured lip – the poor gal was hurt. She sent us a photo over the phone and when I saw her face I could “feel” a rush of something leave my body – it was the weirdest thing. Almost like my bottom fell out – how do I even explain what I felt? I cannot.
Someone touched Me
I immediately thought of the dear woman in Dr. Luke’s account found in his gospel chapter 8 verses 43-48.
Who touched Me?
Remember what the disciples said to Him? “Com’on Lord, we have no idea who touched You – this crowd is massive and crazed and You ask WHO TOUCHED YOU?”
The touch released power
Someone touched Me because I felt power leave Me.
Maybe the same kind of rush I felt when I saw the injured face of our friend.
Our dear lady friend in Luke’s gospel knew she had been “found out,” and stood before Jesus and confessed, “I touched You.”
Your faith has healed you
It took one touch and she was healed. No more periods that lasted 12 years. Not being cast away by her family and friends. The end of daily trips to the creekside laundry rock.
The power of physical touch
Jesus knew the power – He went around the countryside touching people. And, He brought healing all from a touch. The Word tells us we would do greater things than He did…
I believe in the laying on of hands and praying – TOUCH.
The great power of touch
