Hubs and I watched God’s Not Dead 2 last night but about 8:50 I felt my inner clock tell me I was supposed to be somewhere else!!! I grabbed my Kindle and got into the party room as fast as I could – not sure if it was my device or what but Kate Motaung and I appeared to be the only ones in the room. She was busy getting the chairs set up and probably getting the screen up so the word prompt would show up big because it’s a big word – one that has been on our monitors and flat surfaces for well over a week now. The Five Minute Friday team began to file in…Michigan, North Carolina, South Dakota, Nepal, South Carolina, Canada, New Mexico, Arizona, Australia… everyone poised and ready for the challenge. One word. Five minutes. On your mark. Get set. GO!
Had no earthly idea what I would write because you see we haven’t watched the Olympics. I am not a competitive person (unless we’re playing Scrabble or Words With Friends), so hubs and I finished the movie and I fell asleep thinking. I woke up several times through the night and zero zip came to mind. But then this morning at 5:30 as I shuffled to the Keurig, chugged my 12 ounces of water, made a coffee…it came.
A healthy, hearty, thriving family is like a healthy, hearty, thriving TEAM. There’s a captain, a co-captain, and team members. Everyone’s position is as important as the other. IF one malfunctions? It affects the entire team. There is no competition among team members. One can’t be held in higher esteem or lesser esteem. They are two or more making a WHOLE. A team.
I see too many unhealthy, malfunctioning teams.
My hope is for families to look at their team, reevaluate the value, restructure – if necessary, confess faults, recognize strengths and…
GO FOR THE GOLD as a TEAM.
