Kate said Talent
As a faith writer, the very first thing that came to my mind was Jesus’ parable of The Talents. Are you familiar? You can read about it here.
One synonym for the word talent is gift. A talent is a gift.
And, who gives perfect gifts? The Father of Lights! Every good and every perfect talent [gift] is from Him! (James 1.17)
And, the talent [gifting] we are given by our good, good Father is to be used to serve one another. (1 Peter 4.10)
What is my talent?
God has blessed me with several. I love home decor and am pretty good at it. I like to cook and no one has ever gotten sick or worse, so I think I do a decent job of it. I love to write and have self-published almost 20 books.
I do enjoy sharing my talents with others.
How about you?
What is your talent? Do you steward it well? Don’t be shy or embarrassed to answer that question honestly. And, in order to avoid the “proud-ful” reaction – here is a suggestion,
Susie-Q, you are so talented in such and such. Or, Linda-Lou, you write so beautifully.
Receive the praise and accolades and don’t have false humility. Be pleased with compliments and here is the perfect reply to those compliments…
Thank you, it is a gift or talent from my Father.
After all…
He gives good gifts and expects us to use them to serve one another…
Do we?
I’m a talented and truthful writer.
I embrace that talent, and try to share it.
I speak the Gospel on my blog too. I’m encouraged by your blog often! Jennifer, FMF Friend
AWESOME, Spirit-filled and led, response!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As always, spot on!
Seriously? Thanks, Joe!
I don’t know what I’m good at,
or what I might do well.
I just know you could swing a cat
in my skull and hit no brain cell.
But now it seems the game’s afoot,
and smart is what I have to be
because it seems that God has put
a test to my ability
to adapt to silent circumstance.
My voice is gone (haha, ‘do TELL’)
and to stay in this life’s dance
I must now learn ASL,
for t’ould be a lonely fate
to never more communicate.
I’m doing the “I love you” sign right now.
I feel it, Susan.
I love reflecting on the giver of perfect gifts when considering talents. Wise thought! I enjoy decorating my home as well – but never considered it a talent. Thanks for the thought!
Of course it’s talent.
I’m a good cook :). I write well. It’s so much easier for me to say I’m a good cook than it is for me to say I write well. I’m a good grandma :).
YOU ARE all those things and more. They are gifts from your good, good Father!
