On your mark, get set, START!
I like the word start. Just the sound of it represents something brand new.
A new job
A new school year
A new project
A new book
A new bible study
A new 31 day October challenge!
START. Let’s get started.
If STARTing is so exciting, and it is, then why is finishing so difficult?
Yes, we must go there
I always count the cost before starting something. Will I finish it? Do we have the money to finish it?
Our granddaughter, Hannah, gave us a paint-by-number set for Christmas – she got the idea from the book of Memoir my sister and I wrote for the family. Our grandpa and grandma used to paint-by-number. Get it?
If you start – you must finish
So the paint-by-number sits in its box in the closet because I know I won’t finish it – it is a mega paint project and I’m just not sure I have it in me.
God starts and finishes
He doesn’t put us in a box and hide us in His closet. He keeps on keeping on. We are His masterpiece! Have any prodigals in your world? Hang on to this:
…being confident of this very thing, that he who began [started] a good work in you will perfect [finish] it until the day of Jesus Christ…Philippians 1.6
Time to ‘fess up
Have something you STARTed and need to finish? Now’s the time – don’t START one more thing until you finish!
