Always fun to link up with Lisa-Jo Baker and the five minute Friday group of bloggers. Depending on the prompt, five minutes can whizz by or drag! This week’s prompt is “small”. When I saw the word a scripture immediately came to mind – so I’m going with that.
Who dares despise the day of small things? Zechariah 4.10 I remember hearing Joyce Meyer use this verse as she taught on following one’s dream. She reminded the listeners that hers didn’t start out as a big worldwide ministry but she began by being faithful in the small bible study she held in her living room week after week, year after year. Then, the ministry began to grow … slowly to what it is today – but it’s been forty plus years growing! I believe in our personal lives the Lord wants us to be faithful in the small. Finishing what we begin. Being good stewards with what we have. I always think of the illustration: if you don’t keep your old junker car clean, why would God bless you with a nice new car! Words like that stick with me and motivate me to take care of things – even small things. I told my friend one day that I want to live small but have a big life. Meaning, I don’t want “stuff” to consume me. Of course there are certain things I love but I love my family and friends far more. Life is filled with “small” but in the taking care of the small one graduates into the big……maybe not materially but definitely in the blessing department.
