Kate said search.
If I was a betting woman I would say that 40% of the faith writers who participate in Five Minute Friday will use the scripture…
And you will seek Me and will find Me, when you SEARCH for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29.13
I can’t really blame them either because it is a fabulous truth. Isn’t it interesting that it comes after Jeremiah 29.11 – probably the most used “life” scripture ever.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
And in-between 11 and 13 sets…
Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29.12
It sounds like someone was lost.
O! Yes! Let’s not forget the context of this scripture. The Israelites: stubborn, stiff-necked, rebellious, disobedient, ignoring God and doing deplorable things…were now in Babylon under captivity. Removed from their homeland. Taken from all they knew and loved. All personal possessions stripped. When they were taken from their homeland? They were living life, doing what they wanted to do, if it felt good, they did it.
I wasn’t in Babylon but man I was all those things that got God’s people into captivity in the first place.
I am ever grateful I searched and sought — in all truth? I searched and seized because I was so thankful my good, good Father was still there to be found!
