Kate said RIGHT
It seems an easy word to write a five minute essay on, right?
Hmm.
It’s Never Wrong
TO DO RIGHT!
My two grandchildren, now 23 and 17, have heard that saying since they were wee children. “It’s never wrong to do right.” It’s always wrong to do wrong.” It is always right to do right.”
No matter how you say it – the truth of it remains. If you are faced with a decision – especially when posting in social media – it is never wrong to do right.
Right?
Having said that, one must always speak Truth. And, hard truth can be spoken with love. Tell the truth, wrap it up in love and kindness, and it is the right thing.
Every.Single.Time.
Truth!
It isn’t hate speech to speak the truth. – J.K.Rawlings
I have been waiting for an opportunity to use this quote from the author of the Harry Potter series. It’s good, right? I am not sure of the context in which she said it – but for today, it is the right quote to use.
It is always right to do right.
Other rights!
Last night we ate dinner with right-handed and left-handed folks!
Turn right, right up here. Correct!
Politically, I stand far right!
Know your Constitutional Rights! We still have them!
So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4.17
I appreciated your words that it is always right to tell the truth but also to wrap it in love and kindness. I need to remember that. I pray you have a wonderful Friday. Visiting from FMF, but I also follow your blog!
Jennifer, in these days and times – it is imperative we never dwarf Truth. NEVER.
What a great message to teach your grandchildren – βItβs never wrong to do right.β And I also love that J.K. Rawlings quote.
Great post, Susan! I’m so glad I stopped by!
Karen, I love that quote so much and say it at least 7x a week!
The word “right” has so many meanings when you stop to think about it! And I like the JK Rowling quote. She has faced a lot of hate recently over some comments saying biological sex is a real thing, so I imagine that is the context. I have been impressed by how she has continued to express her views in such a calm and reasonable way (without any sense of hate) despite the horrible way that many people have responded.
I did not know all of this about JK….glad to now. xo
it is always right to do right! I love that! great truth to pass on to children and grands. Now a days what is right is most often mangled with what is most popular, isn’t it? Good lesson here to council ourselves with. π
Mariel, not sure how I missed your comment on the 14th. It’s a lesson both of my grands practice and remember!
With a whip of braided cords,
Jesus chased some dudes
just to show, not only words
are what we’ve got to use
in standing up against what’s wrong,
and doing what is right;
so when it fails, the pious song
get ye trained to fight.
A last resort? Well, yeah, of course;
the cheek must first be turned,
but last resorts exist to force
when kindness has been spurned
and to make it crystal-clear
that we defend what we hold dear.
And, we defend what we hold dear. Truth.
I have a friend who has the gift of speaking “hard truth with love.” I truly believe it is a gift, just one of the many ways God made her special. I’m often jealous or that in her, but there are probably things God has gifted me to do that she can not. And that’s alRIGHT. (See what I did there…. haha)
Amie, FMF #21
I did see what you did there. LOL!!!
Love all those rights. You were right to share them:) And so glad we still have the right to do so!!
And we must vote to keep them!
I like the reminder to speak the truth in love, as well as your words to your grandchildren that it’s never wrong to do right.
Visiting from FMF #22
They are words I hear them say now.
Good stuff! Itβs amazing how many ways right can be used.
Right? π
And it must be right to read the prayer of Jesus in John 17 now! I had just purchased your book, & then I was invited to join another devotional based on that too! Double-whammy time for me. I’m loving your book!
What a beautiful chapter it is too! Let me in on some nuggets from the study!
