Kate said REWARD!
At first glance I was not thrilled with today’s word. Reward. Sounds self-serving and manipulative to me. If you do this, this, and this then you will get a reward. That is okay if you’re training a dog but humans? Not.So.Much.
Reward has 23 listings in the concordance at the back of my Bible. I pulled this one out:
And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong. Luke 23.41
Sound familiar? It was the answer the “redeemed at the last minute” thief gave the damned and doomed thief as they hung on crossbeams with the Savior of the world.
Remember?
One way or the other
We all get a reward. For some it will be eternal separation from God. For those who (probably) never even considered reward, it will be eternal life in heavenly places with Jesus Christ their personal Savior.
The day I surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ the only reward I wanted or desired was personal peace.
Personal Peace
No more wondering. No more fear. No more what if’s. My heart broke in repentance and my reward was peace.
I walked the red carpet of repentance and forgiveness, stained red by my Jesus’ blood —
He gave His life and I got the reward.
Thank You for the cross, Lord.

Thank you. As we remember the cross looking toward celebration of the resurrection. From FMF.
YES! It fit in so nicely with our season Lent.
I had the same first reaction to the word for this week! But it turns out there is so much more there.
Erika, YES! Exactly how I felt!
Susan,
I want to honor you for your faithfulness and integrity in writing. You bless me with your consistency and friendship. Now that is reward I trust you will enjoy. It speaks of your day-to-day actions that touch so many of us.
Love you Hope Lady.
Karen
I am over the moon blessed by that commentary, Karen — the other hope lady!!!!
Amen! We don’t often think of negative consequences as being a reward, but I get what you’re saying!
Right?
Thank you for the cross, thank you for the cross, my friend (Lyrics from Matt Redman) Amen!
I LOVE that song, Tara. ♫ The Darling of Heaven, crucified…♫ slays me every time.
Stand fast! and have the battle ready,
to arms, and prepare to bring the pain,
gird yourself, and bid your heart be steady
for tomorrow we rise to fight again.
Stand fast! we live in deadly days
and a horde of demons on us fall
but they do not know the ways
in which we answer Almighty’s call.
Stand fast! the fight is worth your life
and we’ll not come home alive
but God designed us for the strife
and we’ll see His Love survive.
Stand fast before the killing sword;
“Well done!” will be your glad reward.
You are still standing/lying down/leaning strong. We love you and our courage is always available. xoxoxo
Susan, I am so grateful.
Nothing is over.
Nothing!
And, we STAND with you or hold you up. Ya hear? xo Love to Barb, ok?
