Kate said Promise
Last week Kate said practice, this week promise – I am wondering if a “pr” trend is starting – perhaps next week it will be presence! We shall see.
Promise is a huge word, isn’t it? I rarely promise unless I know that I know I can keep it. One of life’s great disappointments is a broken promise. Don’t you think?
When someone promises something it brings such an enormous expectation and I have learned in my 60+ years to have very few expectations. But, when a promise is kept, it is the sweetest thing ever.
The promises of God
Here is where promises are kept. God is a Promise Keeper – if He promises it – you can bank on it. The Word says, “The promises of God are yes and amen!” (2 Corinthians 1.20)
My favorite promises
I have gone to prepare a place for you… (here)
If I go away, I will come back for you… (here)
He promises eternal life to those who believe… (here)
I will never leave you nor forget you… (here)
The sign of His promise
And, let’s never, ever forget the sign of His promise – a rainbow. I mean, can you even? God promised humankind that He would never destroy the earth again by rain and flood and He put His signature in the sky for us to see over and over again.
I like signs. One of the things God does for me, when I need confirmation or reassurance about a thing or a someone in my life, He shows me four-leaf clovers and every single time (it is not often)…
I am reminded that my heavenly Father is a Promise Keeper!
