Kate said opportunity.
I’ve had many over the years and even through a season of rebellion, due to hurt and a broken heart, I have grown and learned from the opportunities (I know) God presented to me.
When my husband of 12 years announced he was having an affair back in 1978 I was devastated and scared. I hadn’t even graduated from high school and had always been a stay-at-home mom and yet there was the opportunity of the General Education Diploma. I took it.
Then there was a job interview after a few go-nowhere jobs and the businessman was looking for a person to run an office. He asked me if I had ever run a business before.
No sir, but I’ve run a home for 12 years.
He gave me the opportunity and in all honesty it shaped my future career.
I’ve had some of the best of the best jobs. I learned early on my gift was helping – not leading, and I learned how to fully step into that role. I worked for some high-profile business people [including our POTUS, when he was a young real estate tycoon] and it was my job to make them shine – and shine they did. Not one of them ever went into a meeting or a presentation unprepared – because of me.
On the spiritual side
I was given the opportunity in 1992 to shed all my baggage and burden and return to the Lord – Holy Spirit met me at an altar – just me and Him. An opportunity I am eternally grateful for.
I am not a speaker or a teacher – those are not my giftings, yet, I told the Lord if and when the opportunity presented itself I would never say no. I would rely on Him and we would go together! That has happened on several occasions – I did fine because He was my Helper!
On the family side
I have been given the opportunity to be the wife of a good man – my second marriage and we’ve been together for 37 years. I had the opportunity to raise three great kids – I made tons of mistakes but they are responsible adults now! And, I’ve been given the opportunity to be a Mimz to two great grand-blessings. Hannah and Simon; the joys of my heart.
I’ve been greatly blessed by opportunity in my lifetime – and I know that the Lord never gave up on me and I believe I am living His plan and purpose for me by taking every opportunity He has presented.
