I’ve heard people say that God isn’t into numbers – and I think when it comes to church size, and church signs, that statement is true. However, God sure used some precise measurements in His Word.
Let’s take a look at a few
The first I can think of is the ark. God told Noah to build an ark.
Make yourself an ark of gopher wood…and this is how you shall make it: the length shall be 300 cubits, its width shall be 50 cubits, and its height shall be 30 cubits. Genesis 6.15
“Noah? Write those numbers down. Measurements matter.”
Measure twice. Cut once. Something hubs has always said to those who worked with him.
God told Moses to build a ‘table for the showbread.’
You shall also make a table of acacia wood; two cubits its length, one cubit its width, and a cubit and a half shall be its height. Exodus 25.23
“Moses, write those numbers down. Measurements matter.”
God gave King David plans for the Temple (1 Chronicles 28.11).
All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing, by HIS hand upon me, all the details of these plans. 1 Chronicles 28.19
“David, I wrote these details down for you because measurements matter.” – God
Now Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah….this is the foundation which Solomon laid for his building the house of God: 60 cubits its length, 20 cubits its width; the vestibule was 20 cubits long and its height 120 cubits. 2 Chronicles 3.1-4
God the Master Builder.
Measure twice – cut once.
