It was an extremely busy Twitter party last night. It started slow with just Gayl and I in the room and then bam…it was like they opened the double doors and everyone walked in at once! Kate Motaung led the pack, our fearless leader who always has the best questions and is so fast on the keyboard to share links and information. YAY! Kate! The Five Minute Friday Party was in full swing within 4 minutes – seriously, we know how to party. Anita showed up with chocolate and Andrew seemed spry and his tweets always send me to the dictionary – such a brilliant wordsmith you are my friend! Once the tweets start popping up like seven at a time in a manner of seconds I start slinking to the left of the door and hope the word prompt will be given NOW…one, I cannot keep up, and, two? I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open. There was no drum roll or trumpet blast, Kate just quietly announced…

Falling asleep I began pondering the word LOYAL – trying to think of a scripture that would “go with it”…
3 a.m. I got it – I knew what I wanted to say.
My dear friend Kitty calls my husband, “Loyal.” You see his name is Lowell but she tagged him a long time ago with Loyal and it’s stuck. Hubs is a pretty loyal guy – has been to me for almost 34 years!
Our dog, Sam, 12 years in dog years and 64 in people years celebrated his birthday on August 20th. He is the most loyal pup we’ve ever had.
I want to be loyal to YOU, my friends. I want to have your back and stick by you. You, who get my weekly email, and sometimes hear little secrets that aren’t written on these pages? You’ve been loyal to me since 2009 and I APPRECIATE YOU.
I have a dear friend whose family members aren’t very loyal to her – it is heartbreaking, and honestly, makes me mad. She deserves loyalty.
Jesus Christ has been ROYALLY LOYAL to me and my family – merciful and gracious – far beyond anything I deserve or earn.
Google uses the word loyal in a sentence for us to better understand its meaning, “He remained loyal to the government.”
What?
Let me use the word in a sentence to better express its meaning [to me]…
My LOYALty is to my Savior and Lord, Jesus is His Name…the One who gave His life to save mine. The One who asks for nothing in return but my heart, yet loves when my desire is Him over anything or anyone else. The One who has my eternity in His hand and my life in His sight…
TO HIM I REMAIN LOYAL.

Love it…too bad not everyone, yes even “Christians” don’t get it.
THAT sister is the saddest.
Lovely. I love how you’ve written down the times of revelations too. Ha haa. Sometimes writers are like that, we birth something throughout the night. Thanks so much. May God pour out grace upon grace on you and yours!
GRACE UPON GRACE UPON GRACE UPON GRACE……..
Susan, we both used definitions for ‘loyal’ in our posts. Dictionary.com > ““faithful to any leader, party, or cause, or to any person or thing conceived as deserving fidelity.” ” May we be wise and discerning as to who we conceive as deserving fidelity. I am grateful this morning that our God is loyal to us and He alone is deserving of our loyalty. Blessings!
We do this often, Joanne!!! Great minds! Kindreds!
I missed the party and I may miss writing. I hope not – maybe I can dig out one from our loyal dog.
Love how you shared the definition and all the examples.
Have a great weekend my loyal blogger friend. xoxo
Loyal blogger friend! Like that!
Well you know this post makes me cry! God has been telling me over and over again that it doesn’t matter who rejects me, He IS LOYAL. In Life Is ___. Judah Smith talks about seeing someone running through traffic on a busy freeway trying to save a stray dog. He said that is the kind of crazy love God feels for us – like a crazy dog lady ready to run in front of traffic for her little dog! Love this post. 🙂
I pray they were cleansing tears! Love you, Melissa. xo
Susan, it makes me sad that our friends family aren’t loyal to her. We deserve loyalty. I am thankful that God is royally loyal to all of us. We appreciate true loyalty too! I’m over in the 35 spot.
It makes me want to fight – you know, righteous anger and all of that.
Lovely post on loyalty. I’m really enjoying your play-by-play writeups on the Twitter party lately! (especially if I wasn’t able to participate)
I too am so thankful for a loyal spouse. It’s almost our 12th wedding anniversary.
I think also of the Pledge of Allegiance. That’s a loyalty pledge. Who are we pledging our allegiance and loyalty to?
In my classroom we get to say the Christian flag pledge as well as the pledge to the Bible. So, we pledge allegiance to our Country, to our Savior, and to the Bible, every morning.
It makes me a little more mindful of how I’m living.
Love you!

(#7 this week)
Your presence is greatly missed when you are not at the party. xo
Haha, Susan. I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets her best inspiration in the middle of the night. My BEST work happens when the family is sleeping and my creativity can fill the silence! If we were in the same time zone, I’d say “text me” the next time you catch your 2nd wind. 🙂
Shauna!!!! It happens to me all the time. Most times I resist the urge and lay there and pray!!!
We kind of wrote similarly, Susan! To Christ we remain loyal! Blessings to you!
To HIM!!!
Great post, Susan…a wonderful exploration of ‘loyal’. I’m grateful for the callout…and I’m sure Sam is as well.
I want you to be THERE so I can call you out, brother.
Just love your own definition of loyal at the end of your post. My Mum and Dad and best friend back home remained loyal to me, as I ran in terrified fear from God, not understanding or sharing what lay beneath. They prayed hard, tears falling … years and years, and my Savior heard and answered their Christ-led loyalty. I weep EVERY time I read Peter’s story: “Even now, I’m praying for you, Simon Peter.” Jesus says…knowing full well where the enemy will lead Peter in fear … but also the Power and Perfect Love that will restore, strengthen and equip, driving out the enemy to the Glory of His Kingdom and Name. May we follow the Spirit’s calling to lift up and encourage our brothers and sisters who are facing the prowling enemy on their path to healing, restoration and powerful servanthood in the Name of Jesus.
I have a chapter in my life similar to yours, Anna.
I was just praying through Scriptures yesterday to fight against a spirit of rejection & feeling unloved (thank you Beth Moore) because of a person in my life who has decided not to talk to me right now. It is so comforting to know that our God is loyal. He never leaves us forsakes us. He never says, “I need to take a break from you.”
Loyalty is a trait to cherish in those we are in relationship with.
That’s my five minute Friday on Saturday
You did good on your FMF post, Patti!!!
Love the play on words of your husband’s name :). I’m so glad that God is loyal to us and sees our true value (even we can’t see it ourselves).
Me too, Anita!!!
