Five Minute Friday host, Kate Motaung, and I exchanged emails early yesterday evening – remember the FMF book I mentioned months ago? We are finalizing the book and preparing for launch! More to come on that. Hubs and I were neck deep in the History channel’s series, ALONE, so I never even set foot in the party last night. I mean, how does one go to a party when a man is ankle-deep in muck staring into the eyes of an 800-pound black bear? Not I!
The word is…
00:00
HIDDEN. Love to know how Kate got that one!
This past weekend I was on a road trip with my daughter, grandson, and granddaughter – these three are ‘news’ buffs. I gave up politics when my candidate left the race. I’ve been on a news fast ever since. But because I was traveling with (mainly) two politico’s – we listened to a lot of talk radio as we traveled our 1200-mile road trip (read about IT here).
If you know me. If you read me, you know I’m an ultra-conservative. Here’s my itinerary for THIS election: LIFE, the 2nd Amendment, and Supreme Court Justices appointments. Period. No more on that.
As we drove along, listened to the talking heads and as we approached Cleveland on the Ohio Interstate – I found myself praying out loud. Sitting in the backseat of my daughter’s Ford Edge. My hands lifted toward heaven.
Father God, lift the skirts of the kings and queens – every person in these races – lift them, Lord, and expose even their HIDDEN sins. (Jeremiah 13.26)
Selah.
O God give us wisdom. Let us live fully exposed – with nothing hidden. The only thing we need to be hiding in these tumultuous days…
Is Your Word. I will HIDE Your Word in my heart – that I might not sin against You. (Psalm 119.11)

(Afternote: Remember true friendship pushes politics aside…we are friends!)
Praying in agreement with you.
Yes, Lord.
Love that picture, Friend! Love your words and Love You!

PS: So excited for the book launch!
I thought of YOU when I chose that picture. I said, “I wonder if Tammy will think it’s a wow!”
So great, Susan. I have, of late, been finding so much of God’s Word hidden in my heart and it carries me through and bolsters my faith.
Love you. Can’t wait for the book!
Isn’t it awesome to have HIS WORD, at the ready, on the tip of our tongue. LOVE IT.
Susan, all I can add is “Amen”.
I knew that about you!!! Love you, friend.
great prayer:) i’m afraid if it were answered fully, there would be many on both sides of the aisle who would be gone…but i’m glad there is some reality to deal with. i have no illusions that there is trouble in only one place. i would just be glad for some of the sneakiness to be revealed.
now that my enthusiasm for any candidate is gone, i just have to trust GOD to help guide me in the voting process. I think He is, despite the frailty of the individual candidates…that can often be distracting.
Martha, I know sister.
These are challenging times, to say the least. I think our prayer isn’t for a specific candidate as much as it is for God’s will to govern and bring peace to our hearts and world. I say that with such doubt, yet my doubt is in man and not God. Let’s not let him be hidden. Amen, Susan.
His will on earth as it is in heaven.
What a fun time and a long road trip. Yes this election seems bleak and I think many People want to throw in the towel and turn off the news.
But we have reason to Always hope. That’s hard to believe for sure
Always. Hope. #hopechangeseverything!
Great post to remind us, His disciples, to allow His Word to be our compass not our emotions and not the culture. Really like the last sentence and passage – one of my favorites.
Thanks for visiting and commenting!
Amen, Susan! May God fill our hearts with His love. May we trust in His goodness and faithfulness and know that He is God. There is no other like Him. Blessings to you!
May He….xo you are so good at Scrabble. YIKES! I need some letters. LOL.
I am NOT an ultra conservative by any stretch and I love how gracefully you express your opinions. I have unfriended a lot of people over their relentless political rants. It’s self-care for me to distance myself from the negative and angry. Love you!
Melissa, your way of expressing our disagreements is so gracious – love you girlie. xoxoxoxo
Susan, great prayer. I keep reminding myself that God is in control. No matter who wins in November, He will work. He is the one who exalts and takes down rulers and authorities. Our job is to pray for them, right?
God is sovereign – I’m so glad He doesn’t leave us to ourselves. I am His. My future lies in His hands. Selah.
I LOVE this, Mimi!
You articulated the unspoken so well.
I love your heart.
AND. I agree.
Xoxoxox
Gigi, I know you do!!!
“Lift the skirts” oh yes! I think that will be my new campaign chant! Love your posts!
Don’t you love that scripture?
I love you so! I too am on a news fast of sorts and while I am not happy or ‘behind’ any of the candidates, my heart is broken for all those who felt the Bern and now just feel burned! They really are downcast and feeling without hope. Of course we know God knows and He is the one who puts kings and rulers in place and so often I have questioned His decision but I choose to trust Him anyway… pray (and vote – even if it is reluctantly! LOL!)
Pray and vote. That’s what we do!!!
Amen! I missed the party this week too. I’m over in the 68 spot.
Well, we have the same political bent.
And the main job of a long rifleman (I HATE the word ‘sniper’) is to remain hidden and gather intel.
It’s about brains, not ballistics. But I didn’t write on that.
I read yours!
Susan,
well, your comment on my comment on Andrew’s post-I’m truly honored.
Thank you.
I’ve been wanting to chant “The Emperor Has No Clothes”. 🙂 That seems in line with your post, somewhat.
I would like to elect somebody with commendable character, who values and honors our country and all who live in it.
I plan to vote, but am thankful there are three more months before I have to. I can definitely pray that God will lead us to make a wise choice in November. For now, I stay back and watch it all.
Franklin Graham had said at the Oregon Prayer Rally, “You may have to hold your nose at the polls, but you need to vote!”
Ha ha ha.

That Franklin is so wise! xo
