Wow! What a word for today. We need HELP – amen?
Our country needs help.
Our world needs help.
I’ve learned over the course of my life that asking for help can be very scary. Intimidating almost. I’ve also learned the greatest hindrance to asking for HELP? Is that stinking monster called PRIDE. Can I get a witness?
Years ago, and I do mean YEARS ago, hubs and I were in a very bad way – financially lacking – to say the least. I needed a doctor – of the female type. We didn’t have insurance and we didn’t have money. I needed HELP.
The Lord taught me a mighty lesson during that season. A lesson in losing my prIde. I did something I thought I’d never need to do. But I did it.
I made an appointment at the free health clinic. You know the kind – where you have to prove your income to be less than. But, I did it.
That day I met one of my favorite people – a nurse, Carol. Carol became a good friend. Several years later Carol’s son literally dropped dead at 19 years of age. Then, Carol needed help. Her sisters rallied around her. God was there.
God is always there.
And, He is a very present HELP in our trouble.
Never be afraid to ask for HELP.

Never be afraid to ask! Your FMF neighbor.
Thanks for reading, Sabrina…
We are stubborn people, aren’t we Susan? Not wanting to ask for help when God is eagerly wanting to spare us from ourselves. Good reminders, friend.
SO stubborn…
Susan, the very same verse came to mind this morning when I saw the prompt. I join you in being grateful that our God IS our help, no matter our need.
No matter the need – He is there.
Yep and amen! That ugly pride rearing it’s head again. Always getting in the way of our humility.
What is smack dab center in the word pride? Yup, I.
ugh.
Very. Present. Oh, how we need it!
We need Thee, O! I need Thee. Every hour I need Thee! ♫
Great post, Susan.
The help you have given me, in so many ways, means the world. Truly.
And thank you for the FMF book! The past few weeks were a bit fraught and I think I never did send a thank-you email. You’ve done a lovely job with it.
#1 at FMF this week.

Thank you, Andrew…seeing life/death through YOUR eyes? Has HELPed me. xo
Yes, we all need help and must learn how to ask for it. Thanks for sharing!
A lesson to learn – and the sooner the better!
Pride totally has a way of getting in the way. I love that God knows what we need before we know we even need it. I’m in the #5 spot this week.
But, YET, sometimes He waits for us to ask. Amen?
Susan I have never thought of asking for help as pride, but you have stepped on the toes because I am one of those who do not want to ask, but I sure do love to help when asked.
I love that verse and used it in my #FMF post today too.
My toes are constantly getting stepped on! OUCH!
Yes, sometimes it’s really hard to ask for help. But you are right that it’s often because of pride. May God make us humble, ready to give an receive help as He leads. Blessings to you!
To receive is a blessing. To HELP is the blessing!
Pride is definitely a bug-a-boo. And I think that we forget sometimes that when we fail to ask someone else for help, not only do we go without something we need, but we also take from the other person the blessing of helping us. Because, really, doesn’t it always feel great to help someone, even if it’s just to hold open a door for an overloaded mom?
Good stuff.
And, we do have our bug-a-boo’s, amen?
Totally agree that pride is the biggest hindrance. It took me a long time to learn to ask for help too.
But you LEARNED! HOORAH!
I love how God weaves the tapestry of our lives together out of seeming randomness. Divine connections. So special. (visiting from #18)
Special and divine, for sure!
All the “amens” for this one, Susan. Pride has tripped me up more times than I care to count or admit. It’s crucial to get over that!
Me too, Marie, me too.
Love the reminders I’m getting this week to ASK for help! So much truth! Thank you for this! Love it!
Thanks, Carey…we are better together!
