What do Nepal, Australia, England, Canada, America have in common? Five Minute Friday – that’s what. Now, for the WHO…Kate Motaung, our fearless host with the most, celebrates her TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY hosting FMF!!! Woo-hoo! Y’all the Twitter party was standing room only. There were new faces, old faces (sorry Mary, I only mean you haven’t been in an age) and “famous” faces (Jennifer, you are famous to us!) and wow, the give-away’s. When it came time for Kate to announce the word, there was a proper drum roll out of Ohio, and word flashing on the party marquee? None other than, I mean how could it be anything but …
About six weeks ago hubs and I were in the kitchen and I said these words as I placed a small white-tinged-with-the-palest-blue hydrangea in a little vase on our kitchen window, “This makes me so happy.” Then in July we took a ride and a picnic lunch to a park I’ve never been and as I looked over the still water of a mountain green lake dotted with paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes, I quietly exclaimed, “Seeing this makes me happy.”
Hubs took my hand and said, “I LOVE seeing you happy and you’ve been saying that a lot lately.”
I had? I hadn’t even realized, except, when I stopped to think about it I understood. About eight weeks before I began seeing several quotes and quips about a Happiness Dare and I believe unconsciously I began looking for HAPPY. I knew the summer would be different for me. No grands coming to stay for an extended period of time. Hubs would be traveling and gone a week at a time, here and there.
I realized I needed to find my own happy. I’m not talking about “joy” – I know where my joy comes from and how my joy tank stays full.
Happy. The things that bring me a smile and a laugh. The things in my life that cause me to say at the end of a full or mundane day…
It’s been a good day – a happy day.
How’s your happy?
06:00 (it’s an anniversary after all – I allowed an extra minute!)
Give Your servant a happy life; I put myself in Your hands! from Psalm 86.
