I crawled into bed last night at 9 o’clock with the iPad planning to continue my binge watching of the British Bake Off show (which is rather entertaining if you enjoy cooking shows), and suddenly I remembered there was a party going on and I was missing it! The Five Minute Friday crew was in full swing at the Twitter Party and our host with the most, Kate Motaung, was dishing out questions gleaning information from the tribe. Being the opinionated person I am I had plenty to share! At 9:45 on the dot, Kate said…

Overthinking the word prompt is sudden death of words for me so I just turned the bake-off show back on until I was sleepy enough to embrace slumber!
This morning as I slowly jumped out of bed, fumbled to the bathroom then kitchen with my toothbrush in my mouth to turn on the coffee pot. Reached up to get my supplement bin, rinse teeth, rinse sink, take said supplement, get k-cup, get mug, push blue button, get half and half from ‘frig…the word flashed before me…
EMBRACE change…
Life is mundane – or insane – or plain – or with pain – or stained – or ….
If you read me with any regularity you know I’ve been fighting a funk – it’s like the flu but it affects the attitude rather than the body. And it lingers…
I am so ready for some positive change – I want to reach for it and EMBRACE it.

What about YOU? Do you embrace change or fight it with all you’ve got? Please share – YOUR thoughts feed my thoughts and help change my perspective. Please?
Just in case you’ve never ordered your Five Minute Friday book, which is a compilation of 150 five-minute writes – pick it up TODAY! All the monies (every red cent – every single one of them) goes to two South African Missions selected by Kate Motaung and Lisa-Jo Baker!
For me it depends on what KIND of change it is. *smile* I get really weary with the constant changes in technology (this just coming off the top of my head this morning)…….I DO like to have a “routine”, yes, however……..I think that for the most part I embrace change. One thing that comes to mind is my changing age. I determined long ago that I desired to “grow old gracefully” while still doing my best to stay healthy and in shape. I’ve seen too many people (even younger than my 65 years) who become bitter and “no fun to be around” and if you talk to them about it…….it is their age that bothers them. NO, I refuse! *smile*
Big changes are going on at our church. I see it as so positive and do embrace it and yet see others who cannot seem to do so.
This is a GOOD topic. Thanks.
YOU did a fmf post! woo-hoo.
Praying for you this morning that God would dispel the funk. May you embrace all that He has for you in this moment, in this day. {Hugs} xo
Joanne, in the present. YES, LORD!
I’m a lot more agreeable with change I’m initiating.
Ah, such a good point, Deb.
I’m wonderful with change that finally happens after I’ve been waiting for it! But a surprise and unplanned for change? Well, not so much. 🙂
Yes, I understand that and I really should have clarified that important factor.
This is good, Susan. I’m not one to easily embrace change, yet sometimes we get to a place where we are just so ready for it — anything to break us out of the rut we are in. We just want to reach out and embrace it! I really like what you’ve written here.
Jeannie (#27 – thanks for stopping by this morning, by the way!)
My pleasure Jeannie!
Ah, my friend! Funk fighting requires friends! I’m praying for you–specificially that God will sow seeds of hope and joy in the long winter you’re experiencing in NC. For some reason, your post reminds me of the Frog and Toad book…Hugs to you!
I feel like the Frog & the Toad book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the chuckle!!!
Praying the funk grooves its way on out and you find a much different tune to sway to 🙂 I don’t always embrace change, but I try to find some good in it. I search to discover what God is doing. Love your realness here, Susan. xoxo
Mandy, listening for a different tune!!!
Awww, Susan. I’m sorry you’ve been fighting a funk. Those are hard to snap out of sometimes. Friends definitely help!
I don’t ever embrace change quickly, but I’m learning to accept it sooner than I used to. And often, as I make the adjustments, I come to embrace it.
Saying a prayer for you now.
Thank you, Jeanne, and today has been a really good day! I’m not shy to tell people because I know they will pray me through. (((xo)))
It takes a while for me to adapt to change. My initial reaction is likely to be negative but when I have more time to reflect I can often see the positives. It helps to recognise that but I haven’t found a way to speed up the process. (PS I love the Bake Off!)
Great show!
I definitely fight change! But it is tiring to be caught in the muck of sameness, too.
Betwixt and between!
Kindred, indeed! (And praying for you, friend!) xoxo
So many of us are!!!
Let’s try this again. I’ve tried commenting three times today! 🙁 For me, it truly depends on the situation. Sometimes I take change easily and the next not so much. It depends on whether I believe God has orchestrated this change or not.
If HE hasn’t? I don’t want it!
Sorry you’re finding a funk, Susan! I can relate. Glad you wrote with us! p.s. I did a whole writing presentation last fall based on the Great British Bakeoff. It’s such a fabulous show!
Is it on your blog, Christina?
Don’t worry about reaching for the positive change, Susan. If it’s sent from God it will find YOU.
And you’ll hear an insistent knock on the door. You just have to open it.
Gladly open it, Andrew.
