Parties are a lot more fun when you know the people! Five Minute Friday Twitter parties are no different – the more people you know the better the party! For the past several months I’ve figured out an app for my Kindle and can sit up in bed and go to the weekly FMF party hosted by Kate Motaung. The party go-ers bring all types of things to the party: take-out suppers, tea, chocolate, and of all things, BACON! That’s how writers roll – a little weird in their culinary delights. Last night’s discussions included things like who has new books available (Asherita, Holly, Andrew) snow, Spring in Australia, bad Internet connection in Canada, raising and surviving ‘tweens, friends in Hospice care, packing for a retreat and not wanting to forget crucial items, tiny house living, Thanksgiving, and at least 4 other things I’m not remembering ! Then, about 9:45 Kate announced the word prompt and I must say, I had instant connection with the word…
because, you see…
It was July 1988 and my hubs, my youngest, and I were driving down 105 in Boone NC; we were ending our long weekend in the beautiful mountains of the Blue Ridge. Excitement filled the pickup truck we were in because we had bought an old farm house on 14 acres of land and it looked as though everything was going to go smoothly with the sale. A clear memory I have of that moment is when I said, “You know what? I’m tired of visiting here – I am so ready to LIVE here permanently!”
Another apex in my life is 1992 when I knelt at an altar in Lansing NC and said, “Lord, I’m selling out to YOU – I want all of You. Everything You have for me? I’m ready!”
Psalm 91.1Β He who DWELLS in the secret place of the Most High SHALL abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
MY PSALM 91.1Β She who [no longer drops in for a visit now and then], but DWELLS as a permanent resident in the secret placeΒ of the Most High God [will have surety and security] and SHALL [a legal binding contract] abide [stay, remain, be kept] under the shadow [always in His presence] of the Almighty.
Friend, are you a DWELLer or an occasional visitor? I encourage you to seek the Lord as never before and know that you know HE IS YOUR God and Lord of your life!
In His grace I am a DWELLer.
xo
Susan,
Enjoyed your post.
When we take the time to consider all He has already done for us, continues to do, how can we not choose to dwell close to Him? It makes the ugly and evil loose its power to overwhelm us.
Cheers,
Leah
Leah, thanks for coming by. Dwelling…
Susan, what a great idea to move to Boone, what a beautiful place! I believe God dwells in us and wants us to dwell in him β just be and rest and become more of who we are supposed to be, instead of chasing wrong ideals and superficial life.
Thanks for this reminder, happy Friday!
Thank you, Katha, for coming by!!
Great post. Glad that we are dwellers together. And love your intro paragraph. Thanks for sharing a link to my page. Love you “adopted” mom! π
So glad of that, Tara!
Oh, Amen and amen! I might not dwell in my dream home, but I’m a dweller in his arms!
Amen, sister!
Great post! I wrote about Psalm 91 as well and the idea of not just visiting but dwelling. I love how you expanded on the verse and brought out its meaning.
Carly, cannot wait to read yours!
Really enjoyed your thoughts here, Susan. I appreciate how you offered your personal interpretation of Psalm 91:1. I want to be a “dweller.” I want to be like the little puppy dog who is always under his master’s feet.
Oh, and I got a good chuckle out of your reference to “crucial items.” π
π
LOL! Great minds and Kindred hearts, my friend! I wrote in my fmf that I long to be known as a Dweller! π Because, of course!
I am smiling. Because, of course! xo
Great words and writing today. Good job.
Thanks for stopping by Sharon!
Awesome word! Both the word dwell in and of itself and the WORD that you just preached. So inspiring. It really makes me think about where I am in my relationship with the Lord.
Can’t believe you even have a minute to read blogs! BUT I’m glad you read mine. xo
Amen! I love your breakdown of Psalm 91:1. I live every day striving to be a DWELLer π Stopping by as your FMF neighbor!
Amy, mine too!
Love this friend! My greatest gift is to be a DWELLer in the house of the Lord! Happy Weekend!
Mary, happy one to you as well.
Susan, Like everyone else I LOVE this “In His grace, I am a dweller” truer words were never spoken. His grace, always!
Yes, ma’am, by grace alone…
Definitely being more purposeful in dwelling in God and having Him dwell in me. It is amazing how much peace can wash over us when we simply listen and obey!
So.Much.Peace. Thanks for coming over Marisa!
