Kate said distraction
I am not a fan of distractions. I can think of a zillion things to distract me and I also believe the enemy of our soul uses distraction – for obvious reasons!
Some of the distractions in our culture:
Fake news – to take our focus off of very important situations.
Busy work – when there is serious business to take care of.
Distractions are time vacuums!
When I have a writing project, something I know the Lord Himself commissioned, Satan loves to come along with distractions. Ready?
Cleaning the house.
Organizing a closet.
Cleaning out drawers.
Cooking a new dish.
I know these distractions all too well. Currently, I am writing a new devotional – the last sure thing I know that God told me to do. John 17 – The Real Lord’s Prayer. (Yes, I’m preaching to the choir today!)
Texting while driving – against the law and people do it all.the.time.
Being careless using hand tools. I always told my kids: FOCUS on the job in front of you.
Isn’t it crazy that a bug can distract to the point of danger?
Has C19 been a distraction? Oh yes, it has. All this glorious time that has been given us and some of us have let it slip away and we’ve accomplished nothing. God forbid, some have sat in front of the screen and watched every jot and tittle of the news. UGH. I love what Steven Furtick says, “Check the news DON’T WATCH IT.”
This is wisdom, because all it is? It’s a distraction to not do something important, or heaven forbid, fun!
Walk in Wisdom
15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5.15-17
Let’s name our distraction?
Let’s confess one to another and lay our distractions aside and LIVE OUR BEST LIFE! God gives us TODAY – let’s use it to the uttermost!
