Kate said desperate.
Ever been?
Yeah, me too.
The Challenge
When I feel desperate the one and only thing that brings me peace is a good, come to Jesus moment. I cry out to Him and bear my soul, my fears, my insecurities, and anything else negative clinging to my inner soul.
I cannot live with something between HIM and ME. No matter what it is.
A stubborn streak.
A wayward loved one.
A spoken untruth.
A “feeling.”
Come Clean
Jesus talks a lot about giving Him the hard stuff – and when we are desperate, that is what we do and HE LOVES IT.
This world is desperate. We are dangling on the cliffs of destruction and desperation.
My advice?
Get desperate and fall at His feet.
It is there my peace, my joy, and my confidence gets renewed and restored.
The Door Is Always Open
My desperation levels have been high – and, my visits are many! His counsel room has a swinging door and I’ve been putting it to good use. There is NO problem too small, too hard, too complicated for Christ to cut through. Give Him the opportunity, the availability, and the cooperability to act.
It’s really not complicated – when desperation comes there is ONE who can do something about it.
from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I… Psalm 61.2
This is a very short sermon with built-in application: “It’s really not complicated – when desperation comes there is ONE who can do something about it.” AMEN!
Amen, Wayne!!!
Oh, I’ve been through that swinging door more times than I care to admit! You know, though, I always come out with more peace than when I went in. In my humble opinion, there’s only one Person who can give me that peace, and He’s always willing to listen to anyone at any time.
Glenda, we have a revolving door, amen?
I love your advice to “get desperate.” I’ve been thinking about prayer for a series at church, specifically in context of Jesus “crying out” to God from the cross. That was a desperate prayer! I think God appreciates it when we pray those kinds of raw declarations.
Amie, FMF #10
Our brother, King David, was expert at “crying out.”
Amen and Amen Been there many times not just for me but for others. Praying unto tears and crying out are our most powerful prayers. Thanking God for all he is doing through the power of Holy Spirit. Agreeing with Amie.
Amen!!!
I suppose I NEED to do that more often.
Let my desperation drive me to the Lord. Long walks and conversation… He’ll soothe my soul! FMF15
It’s a promise!
Regarding desperation,
if I had my druthers,
it would be the first sensation
that I would cause in others,
that their match was truly met,
position could not be improved,
for they have been judged, then set
in the presence of THE DUDE,
a man in whom the Art of Cool
is played out on the highest plane;
to challenge this would take a fool
with an addled limbic brain,
so come ye humble, with no fear,
watch THE DUDE, and hold his beer.
Not your best but I’ll take it because it’s YOU!
oh amen, sweet susan! grateful for the one who fills and refills with every desperate cry I have. He is so faithful. Continuing to pray for you. xo
He will never ignore our desperation.
Susan, I am so very grateful He is always waiting to hear our voices before His throne. And in these days we are living, yes, I find myself more desperate for Him to move in our world. “When desperation comes there is ONE who can do something about it.” Amen!
Only ONE! Every other option is empty.
Such a beautiful post! Desperation is good when it brings us to Jesus. Thanks for sharing and providing a place of hope in the midst of the chaos all around. He alone IS the answer!
HE ALONE.
Been there so often that swinging door is always hitting me! Desperation can be a good thing because it keeps us close to the One who cares and can calm us or change us.
Who needs W-3 oil, right sestra?
I prayed out loud in my car the other day in desperation of an upcoming death of a friend and it felt good to open up to the Lord. My friend died of Covid at age 28 left an 8 year old son. Please pray for Jakes family he left behind. Thankful you are feeling much better n hope reports are calming news.❤️
OH MERRY.
A godly man once said, “Desperation is better than despair.”
It seems that when I’m in or approaching despair that I get truly honest with God. It’s then that I know that I know He’s heard me.
A comfort beyond description.
