Last night’s party was quite good. Chocolate brownies, oh wait, they were for someone’s husband! There was a chocolate (or was it vanilla?) frozen frappe being passed around with multiple straws. There was joy. There was grief. There was a migraine. There was kudos and congrats. There was a new smartphone owner, oh wait, that was me. Yes, I am overwhelmed, but give me some time and a techie granddaughter and I’ll be just fine! Everyone was having such a good time, our host Kate Motaung, had to get up on a chair and yell the word prompt for this week’s Five Minute Friday free write. I love, love, love this word:
00:00
We are all builders – every.single.one.of.us.
That’s right. If you breathe, you are building something. Problem is some aren’t building things that will last.
Every good building begins with?
A plan and a good foundation.
If those two things aren’t in place? The structure will eventually crumble.
How many of us sang the Sunday School song, “the wise man builds his house upon the rock.” Remember? When the rains came, and oh they will come, his house stood firm. But the foolish man built his on the sand and when the rains arrived? It went S P L A T and washed away.
Spiritually speaking, and of course…WE HAVE TO GO THERE…
God has a plan for every one of us. A very good plan. A plan to prosper us and give us hope and a future. (here)
And, God has already furnished a foundation. His son, Jesus Christ, THE ROCK OF AGES. (here)
You just cannot beat following HIS PLAN on HIS FOUNDATION.
A life and legacy that will last into eternity.

Last night as I left the FMF party I was confident of what I was going to write but the Lord gave different words this morning – He is never wrong! But I do want to share one of my favorite scriptures, it is especially for women builders!
The wise woman builds her house [on a foundation of godly precepts, and her household thrives],
But the foolish one [who lacks spiritual insight] tears it down with her own hands [by ignoring godly principles]. Proverbs 14.1(AMP)
I enjoyed reading your post this morning. Keep up the good work. – Sarah (visiting from FMF)
Hi Sarah, I think you’re new in these here parts!!! Welcome to HeartHopeHome and FMF!
Thanks for sharing. I was going to write on the wise woman verse myself, but God had me write something completely different.
I think if we spent each day with a ‘what am I building?’ Perspective… Things would be different.
Wouldn’t it? xo
Very good……….much to think on. Thank you.
Oh Kath’ so much to think on!!!
Insightful words. Yes, we are all builders. I’ve been convicted to look in the mirror lately and see a woman building walls of complaint and stress in holding onto the reins. I don’t want to pass that on as a legacy to my girls, rather a legacy of surrender and a life built into our Cornerstone of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Self-control…a life of happy service in honor of my Savior’s sacrifice.
Then, begin TODAY. xoxoxo
Good words for a Friday morning, I especially like your reference to Proverbs: The wise woman builds her house [on a foundation of godly precepts, and her household thrives]
This has been my goal all my adult life, to build a home where others see God working. Have a wonderful weekend!
Nancy, amen, sister, amen.
I love this word too. I wrote my initial inspiration, but I could have gone so many other ways too. Happy Friday, friend!
Can’t wait to read!!! xo
Oh, Susan, your writing always speaks to me but that wise woman verse…. Oh, that verse! I have not had that specific verse resonating in my head and heart (I stink at verse memorization since my stroke) but I’ve had the essence of it pounding at me. Then the sweet realization that it is the Potter pounding the “self” out of me so HE can fill me and build with me.
Good writing, my friend. One of these days, I’m going to get over my disdain for Twitter and get to one of those parties!
And good for you on the smartphone. I’m still squeamish about taking the leap!
Shelby – I am on technology overload this morning. Not sure 60-something’s should have such complicated toys. xoxo
Susan, what a great post! Yes, we need to build on the right foundation. Only then can we build something that will last. And you’re so right. The only foundation for us to build our lives on is God’s word.
Simply beautiful.
And was’t last night fun?!
It is the sure foundation! And your post about your parents? I loved it!
How did I miss the frapp with multiple straws being passed around? It was so good t be back with you all. Yes indeed, everyone of us is called to build; to create a strong foundation. Great post. I’m over in the #5 spot this week.
Oh sister, you missed the Frappe? For shame!!!
It was good. We’ll do another one, Tara:)
A firm foundation…it’s a truth I’ve seen and known so well. Thanks Susan!
A truth that proves itself over and over, Deb.
beautiful words Susan! We all have the ability to build up or to tear down. Jesus is most certainly the most solid rock I know!
Sorry I missed the party, sounds like great fun! But I was with my daughter for throwback movie night. Top Gun never can resist that one. In the #40 spot this week
TOP GUN? You’ve just confirmed it!!! I knew I was supposed to watch that again. Thank you Christy. Seems silly on such a serious day, doesn’t it?
Top Gun = awesome. Anyway, Susan, I love what you said. We can’t be afraid of going SPLAT, cuz it’s just bound to happen. How we respond relies upon the strength of our base, as you said.
We will fall, Christina, but if we are firmly grounded on The Foundation, we won’t stay down for long…GRACE is our base! xo
