(I adored this photo from Unsplash – it was tagged “waving,” – you could’ve fooled me – these folks are having a praise the Lord fest.)
Kate said, “Adapt.”
How good and pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to dwell in unity. Psalm 133.1 How good it is when they adapt.
Over half a year ago our church underwent the changing of pastors. Our former pastor Ron (75) retired and our new pastor Tim (36) came in.
New people came.
Some people left because they couldn’t adapt. They chose preference over truth. I’m not being judgmental or critical; the point is they couldn’t ADAPT.
Now my hubs and I are, what you would call, the “elders” (no title here) of the church. I do believe there are those older than we are but we are “up there.” We adapt. We adapt well. We welcome change.
We are good adapters.
Now, allow me to say if TRUTH were no longer the focus at our church we would not have adapted – we would have preferred Truth. Because Truth trumps preference any ole day.
So bring out the lights, the cameras, the electric guitars, the window shades, the coffee bar, the kids ministry area, the new well system, the paved parking lot, the ear plugs (for some who can’t adapt but still prefer Truth to personal preference)…
Because the Shipe’s have ADAPTED and adapted quite well!
