The 21-year old granddaughter called a few weeks ago and asked,
Mimz, what are our family rules?
She was working on a paper for school and proceeded to read the ones she had already listed. She already had numbers 1 through 5. Today, I added number 6 and 7.
Last week I wrote about our family anthem – you can read about that here. This week I’m thinking about our rules.
Rules of Engagement
I am a rule follower. I’m married to a man who grew up thinking rules were made to break. He has changed his way of thinking over the years. Getting older does bring a certain maturity!
Families are our greatest asset, next to our faith. I cherish both.
Families are finicky though, right? So many different personality types. So many idiosyncrasies. Pet peeves. Weird habits. Strange eating habits. And, on and on.
Surely, I’m not the only one!
We have had our high’s and our low’s.
We have laughed and we have cried.
God has told me to “sit still.”
He has also told me to “go get.”
All the while following the rules.
I think, as I look over the list, I like number five the best.
5. Love no matter what – let God sort it out.
AMEN? (If you click on the above graphic, you can print a pdf of the Family Rules!)
Do you have family rules? Will you share one or two?
