I have ended many a blog post with a simple question,
Do you know Him?
For many months the Lord has been speaking to me and encouraging me to change that question a bit. Matthew 7.21-23 has been chasing me around and showing up in various and sundry places – when that happens I know the Spirit is prodding me. I have prayed Psalm 139.23-24 and His Spirit bears witness with my spirit so I am certain all is well with my soul. Now, I bring the question to you.
Does He know you?
Matthew 7.21-23 says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
I don’t know about you, but that scripture brings great conviction to me. How many are being led astray with a feel-good gospel? The Word is clear. Salvation brings change to one’s life; we become NEW creations in Christ. Our desires and want-to’s change and we desire to do the will of the Father. We long to be obedient to His commands and when we fail, and we will fail, we are sorrowful and repentant. And, yes, great grace abounds.
Psalm 139.23-24 says, Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
I want to be right there with David, as he pleads with his God to search his heart and to show him anything unrighteous so he can repent and move forward.
I don’t want to fill this page with a lot of words – but I do want to be obedient and share this with you. It is the most important question each one of us must answer for ourselves.
