Put your phone down and let’s talk a while!
If you subscribe to my blog, you get a weekly email from me on Wednesday with a bit of personal news. I consider my subscribers as friends and let’s face it sometimes we say more to friends than we do to readers! It’s not as though I get super personal but you just might find out what flowers bloomed that week or who visited our bird feeder! You know, the important stuff! At the end of the weekly email I always say, “Go grab a cuppa and let’s sit a spell!” After which, I list all the links to the posts I’ve written since the last Wednesday!
Today, I want to have a catch up with all of you – readers, subscribers, and a few spammers (had a couple recently). Let’s talk word of the year and how that’s playing out now that it’s April. I want to share some heart moments and maybe a personal tidbit or two.
So, go grab a cuppa and let’s sit a spell…
One word 2016! Remember, mine is DISCIPLINE in relation to: Read (the Word) Pray and Move (as in exercise). I want to report to you I am being faithful and obedient to the disciplines of being disciplined! My chronological Bible reading is going well – today I finished Ruth and will move into First Samuel tomorrow. I do want to say one thing…the book of Judges was a challenge, y’all. My take-away? I am so very ecstatic that God sent His Son to redeem mankind and set women free. Thank You, Lord! I read in the morning, Monday through Friday (weekend’s off); I pray all day long, never saying amen and all weekend too; I exercise (a dvd) as soon as I come upstairs at 8:25 for 20 minutes and then go straight to work (remember, I work from home). This schedule works the best for me. IF I wait to exercise? I don’t do it. I do my workout dvd Monday through Friday. How are you doing with your ONEWORD2016?
We have lots of signs of Spring around us: forsythia blooming, daffodils now waning, tulips getting plumper by the day, rose bush is leafing, and the Goldfinches are turning their brilliant shade of yellow, BUT, it’s cold outside and I just cannot get into the yard mowing/trimming thing yet. Mowing with a sweatshirt on and earmuffs? Well, it just isn’t my thing. April is a happy month for me – my two oldest were born in April – exactly two years and one week apart. This year they are older than I was nineteen years ago and trust me, THAT is so darn hard to believe. There are days I think I am still 32 – but, alas, my youngest is older than that!!!
Thanks to technology we have watched Great Horned Owls and American Bald Eagles hatch and grow! Last year I viewed in amazement a Mama Hummingbird raise three little hummers to fledglings! This year we’ve gotten a big bigger! The two owlets are almost ready to begin “branching” and can be seen here. Hubs and I have watched Mr. and Mrs. GH Owl fill the “pantry” with swamp rats, gray squirrels, egrets, and much to our chagrin, a male Cardinal. We’ve also watched from Washington D.C., Mr. President and The First Lady’s Eaglets hatch by live cam here. Eagles are fish eaters only. Those little bobble-heads are just incredibly entertaining! We’ve also been privy to just one Eaglet hatch locally at East Tennessee State University cam here. Yes, we are nature geeks. No, we don’t mind if you know this!
Hubs and I are healthy and good. We’ve activated our five-year plan. We laugh a lot. We both continue to work FULL-TIME and full throttle! I’m not sure what else we would do!!!
I’m not reading as much as I’d like to. Not sure why that is. I do however, have two books going at present. We’ve discovered VidAngel movie streaming with filters for everything from a to z! How sweet it is to watch a movie and not get F-bombed every other word. Hubs watched American Sniper without one bad word. Yes!
Grandson Simon will be 13 next month and that is hard to believe. He loves youth group on Wednesday night and invites his friends to go. This past Sonday, his friend asked to be baptized. Simon’s plan and purpose is bearing good fruit for the eternal Kingdom! Yes, Lord!
Granddaughter Hannah is finishing up her Freshman year at Liberty University. She loves school. Dorm life can be a daily challenge as she adapts to quirky personalities, of course she thinks she’s normal!!!
Here are some photo moments, from ministries we support, that warm my heart: [if you’re in the giving mood, links are attached!]
