The Women of Easter: Encounter the Savior with Mary of Bethany, Mary of Nazareth, and Mary Magdalene by Liz Curtis Higgs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It’s no secret I love Liz Higgs! I love her writing, her speaking, her kind and caring heart, and her great sense of humor.
The Women of Easter is a serious look at the three Mary’s of the Passion. Most people who study the Word are familiar with the Mary’s and will appreciate the up-close look at these women of Easter, all in the context of scripture.
Liz takes a tiny bit of literary liberty and adds a few “between the line” moments – but nothing untoward or irreverant.
Liz, a master storyteller, does not disappoint in WofE … she goes beyond and above drawing the reader in. Chapter 8 had me in tears – and then arms lifted high in praise and allelujah’s.
The Women of Easter is a timely read during the holy season of Lent or any time of the year one needs to see and know God’s heart for women. We are called and chosen for such times as these.
Yes!
I loved this book as well — Liz has a way of melding intense scholarship with warm-hand-on-my-shoulder storytelling!
I love it when friends have books (and authors) in common.
It appears, madam, that we have an awful (but not awful) lot of things in common!!!
Bless you, Susan, for a kind, honest, and helpful review. So grateful for sisters in Christ who share my love for Him and for His Word!
I am flattered (I hope that’s not a sin!!!) to have you visit my humble presence on the web. You know I’m crazy about you!!! Keep writing and inspiring the girls!
Interesting! I had not heard of this one, I’ll have to check it out.
Melissa, it is a very good book.
I heard her (Liz, not one of the Marys 😉 ) at a Women of Faith Conference–I can see why you love her! I’ll have to check the book out :).
Anita, it’s a quick and holy read.
