I am blessed with a wonderful family! On rare occasions we all get to be together in one place at one time! And, it’s not necessarily a holiday either. This summer brought such an occasion.
Our granddaughter, Hannah, has spent her summers with us since she was five and one-half years old. She lives in South Florida with our son and daughter-in-law. Our home comes alive for two glorious months with the activity of a lively and lovely girl. At the end of each summer her parents make the drive up to steal her away. This summer all three kids were in North Carolina at the same time and we made sure we made some memories and Kodak moments. One of which is shown below. Last week when the box of printed pictures arrived in our mailbox, our daughter was here and we were enjoying the photos when we came to this particular Kodak moment. Daughter has a gift of impersonation and began analyzing our group picture in true *Tonya Reiman form. We were hysterical as we pointed out each and every word of the very distinct body language!
Oh dear – are we really that dysfunctional? This one is leaning that way; that one is leaning this way; his hand is clenched; her hands are tucked away and we went on and on. The point is this: our family has quirks just like all families and we are far from perfect but we are each others and all of us are God’s. Sure, some are closer than others and some haven’t darkened the door of a church in years but we’re HIS and He loves us just the way we are and not the way we’re supposed to be and this Mom is very pleased about that!
My Family!
