These are my August “things.” I never want to stop learning or being inspired and I long for soul-satisying things in my life. Here is my August L I S T:
Loving: I have a love/hate relationship with The Beast – my non-electric treadmill; but I do love listening to podcasts while walking. My one word 2017 SUFFICIENT has proved itself to be quite sufficient these past eight months! HE IS SUFFICIENT!
Reading: My summer binge reading of beachy fiction is almost over. I have one more to finish, then I lay down the beach fiction. Mary Alice Monroe is an excellent storyteller – she lives in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and you can tell by her descriptions and familiarity with beaches, loggerhead turtles, bottlenose dolphins, the marshes, the puff mud – when she describes puff mud? You can almost smell it through the page. Her fiction is PG-21 and I have blushed a time or two but at 66-years old I handled it well. Next to read? I’m not quite sure.
Shopping for: August has been spent shopping for hubs. Trousers, silk tie, dress shirt. Today, three silk ties arrive from Amazon. We will make our selection and return the two that don’t work. THAT is how I shop. Amazon Prime earns its worth, every single day at our house.
Excited about: A trip to Charleston this weekend. For a family wedding. Downtown historic Charleston. How exciting is that! Our house-sitter, Walt, is at the ready to stand citadel over the Branch.
Trying to: Be patient and walk slowly and have joy on the journey.
Working on: Walking slowly and having joy! AND, having 52 Commands of Jesus for Children translated into Spanish. WHAT?
Enjoying: This past Sonday was our lakeside worship service and oh how I love that.
Using: Rodan and Field’s Hydration Serum. This stuff is a miracle potion!! Hubs, who suffers terribly with dry skin on his handsome face, is now scale-free! It’s pricey BUT one uses only a bit and that “bit” goes a long way. I am NOT a R&F person but I can hook you up with my niece, IF interested.
Wearing: Skechers Go Walk 3 on the treadmill. Croc Swiftwaters around the house and beyond. And, in August’s precarious weather? Several jammie days. Today? Flannel jammie bottoms, barefeet, a denim long sleeved shirt – yes, I am a fashion guru.
Planning: Our weekend trip to Charleston SC and trying to get dinner reservations at The Ordinary!
Singing: I haven’t really sang much this month. Hmm. I wonder why.
Needing: Peace in my heart and joy on the journey. Clarity on my Write31Days project – I NEED to work on it all September.
Learning: That change is really, really good. I love change, but most people do not. Our pastor announced his retirement a few months ago and we have voted in a new, young family. I am thrilled and excited to see what God is going to do. I am learning to go with the flow and see where we land! All for the Kingdom!
Listening to: Big band music in the kitchen on Saturday’s. I love the old classics: Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, and others I can’t think of their names. Whenever Andy Williams belts out Moon River? I think of my mom – she LOVED that song!
Watching: Beth Moore’s Living Proof. I was reminded by my sweet friend that Beth’s app was available on my iPad and I should be listening. I do like me some Beth Moore. She knows how to kick your booty with love!!! I needed some kicking too!!! I’m watching and listening to her The Most Talented People Under the Son series. If you are a creative? This is a must-hear. He created me with a craving to contribute.
Wishing/Praying/Hoping for: 3 John 4; still water; and a vet’s benefit for hubs.
Doing: Decluttering. Donating. Disposing. AND, praying for Texas and many other intense prayer needs.
Dreaming: Still water; 2020Vision; Casita Travel Trailer.
DIY project: Nothing really. A couple of white budding mums and colorful crotons were purchased and planted. I’ll be transitioning to fall soon – but no major DIY projects in the hopper!
Not crazy about: Summer coming to an end.
Now, your turn. Pick three things and share in the comments – pretty please with a pumpkin latte on the side?
This week I’ll be linking up with Inspire Me Monday, Tea and Word, Porch Stories, Coffee for Your Heart, Jennifer Dukes Lee, Tune In Thursday, Dance With Jesus, Fresh Market Friday, Glimpses of His Beauty, Salt and Light, Heart Encouragement, Thought-Provoking Thursday, Grace and Truth, Faith-Filled Friday, Seeking God, Glimpses of His Beauty.

Love this! So honest, open, and transparent…my three things! Many blessings to you friend ❤️
Beth, are you working on a best-seller or something? DO TELL.
Sweet Susan, no, I’m not working on a best seller. . . . I was saying that YOU are so honest, open, and transparent in your writing . . . and those are three things I desire to be also 🙂
😉
1. Working on my word for 2017 Contentment
2. Getting my BP under control naturally without nasty pharmaceutical drugs.
3. Helping my beautiful daughter move from her smaller home to a larger home with her son, 2 dogs, lots of graphic equipment. Exciting for her. And closer to me (well, a block less off the one hour drive).
Thank you Sestra.
You are always so very busy!!!
What a fun post, Susan! SO excited that your book is being translated into Spanish! Doing a dance of happiness in my favorite Skechers for you!
Skechers are the bomb, aren’t they!!!
Love this post, Susan. Such a great perspective and FUN!
Doing: Decluttering, donating, disposing; and praying for my grandchildren as part of a 30 Day Prayer Challenge.
Working on: An unhurried life; my one word, “BE;” and a book launch scheduled for the end of September.
CELEBRATING: My daughter being cleared and pronounced cancer FREE this month.
I love the celebrating part. I may have to “steal” that and add it to my L.I.S.T. Do you mind?
I love your acronym! Such a great list! Thanks for the honorable mention!
Now, off to tell my Sweet Man how to get rid of the yellow jackets under the deck!
XO
Tammy
It works, Tam’…the “real” nasty SEVEN dust. Just don’t put it on your veggies.
You and I are kindred spirits of shopping. Amazon Prime pays for itself in no time here.
And you would love my youngest son’s Pandora stations. He’s a jazz lover and plays the trumpet, so he listens to big band stuff in spite of the hooting of his 3 big brothers who say he’s a 40 year old man in a teenager’s body.
And I’m so glad to hear about the Beth Moore app. Gotta check that out. I think I’d enjoy listening to her.
Blessings to you, Susan. Praying for the III John 4 along with you.
MM, I believe we have more kindred spirit links than (maybe) we both care to admit!!! 😉
Happy – but a wee bit jealous -that you get to go to Charleston. Is it Beth Moore a fireball for Jesus? Praying the same verse over my family
Blessings to you my friend and may all your dreams come true❤️
Beth Moore is one of the best preachers of the 21st century, IMHO.
I love love love Charleston and Mary Alice Monroe. I also love the list you shared today. xo
Are you old enough to read Mary Alice? *wink-wink*
Susan,
I really enjoyed your L.I.S.T. !! I had to chuckle over the “beast”. Don’t we all have a love/hate relationship with all things exercise?? I also love Charleston….haven’t been there in a few years, but I am always lured by her charm. So much to see and do!! Enjoy your time there!!
So glad I popped by!!
Blessings,
Bev xx
Bev, YOU stay off of treadmills for a while, sis. Ya’ hear?
LOL – I listen to Sirius 1940s Big Band music, too! Love it! It makes the house pop in a soothing way. I’m standing right there with you, agreeing with you that we have joy for the journey! I tell my boys, “Choose Joy.” Of course, if their mom is recommending it, they might not choose it in front of me! Another little lol. Wishing you a holiday of blessing in Charleston! What fun!
We are kindreds then!!!
Wow! You’ve had a lot of fun this August, Susan! And I would be one happy camper if I got to visit Charleston again. You MUST take lots of pics and do a post on it, my friend! Also congrats on your book being translated into Spanish! Woot woot! I’m not sure September can top all of that! 😉
Looking forward to C’ton….
So glad you are enjoying Mary Alice Monroe’s book I so enjoy her books. We just got back from Charleston love that place, we are now back home yes i said home were God has so blessed us. Made it through our first tropical storm again a blessing I prayed it out to sea. Still not sure why God brought me here but I know that he has many things in store. I am enjoying every day and it is so peaceful here. Thank you Susan for all your prays. I so enjoy your blog.
Praying for the people in Texas.
Love Shirley
You’re living an M.A.M. story!
Working on: my next blog series called Work Elevated: Finding Spiritual Purpose in your Secular Work
Wishing/Hoping/Praying my daughter finds somewhere to live in LA
Looking forward to my son coming home this weekend and being with him for the next 3 weeks before back to college in the UK
And I pray in agreement with you for your three. xo
What a great post. I feel like we sat together for a catch-up chat!
A good cuppa and a chat.
I always love reading your lists. And buying….did you know my birthday is on Sunday? :p
Well my my – is it!!!
Love getting this peek into your life, Susan! So honest and open and refreshing! Love the acronym, too!
Glad you came over, Carlie.
You’re the second one this week talking about visiting Charleston. I really want to get back there sometime.
The weather looks iffy but I’m hoping and praying God will speed things up and Saturday will be a sunny day for the bride and groom!
Love your post, as always, Susan! Three things for me this month – I’ve learned that our house can always hold more people as we have two friends of my sons living with us. Right now they have no place to go.
God’s grace is sufficient. – I already knew that, but He keeps showing me by giving me strength when I’m weak.
And I learned that it’s ok not to blog as often. I need to take care of me and those around me.
Blessings to you! Hugs! xoxo
The ministry of presence…so much more Christ-like than blogging! I think Jesus would agree also.
I always love reading your lists–so full of joy and LIFE! I’m praying 3 John 4 along with you! And rejoicing over 52 Commands coming out in Spanish!! All while I am learning new ways to practice my 2017 word of Stillness: HE is my teacher!
He IS The Best Teacher!
I’m with you on Amazon prime shopping and needing to write in September! Octobers are crazy enough as it is!
Oh yes, we need a good solid headstart!
3 things: A ten-year-old daughter growing in self-confidence and responsibility; re-reading my favorite book, Love Walked In; deep, abiding friendship.
I love reading about the ways you fill your life–with intention. I am blessed to know you.
Ah…and vice versa!
Wow! You have quite a list going on! It’s beautiful and allows us to get to know you a little better. As far as three things I like..
1. the Sunshine (and the Sonshine)
2. Food on the grocery shelves!
3. Seeing my family serve others!
Tammy, you and yours have been salt and light through this ordeal. Papa is pleased.
I love a lot of that era of music, too. I’m always reluctant for summer to end, but I am looking forward to cooler days, crisper air, and fall color. I love Charleston! We’ve been there a couple of times for anniversaries and once or twice more for family visits. I haven’t thought much about 31 Days yet this year – between surgery, recuperation, and family stay-cation in August, I feel like I am just this week emerging into some free time again. I need to pray about it.
Barb – priority is to get stable after surgery.
You know how I love me some Listy posts! #swoon
I love this –all of it! (And now I am off to Google Beth Moore’s series!)
xoxo
