One Word 2020
I wonder if anyone thought choosing abundance as my one word 2020 was on the arrogant side. Did you? I almost did but Holy Spirit gave it to me and wouldn’t take it back. He’s not an Indian giver. And, He also gave me the scripture to go along with it…
Listen to Me; listen well…and delight yourself in My abundance. Isaiah 55.2
Materialistic or?
Abundance for me has nothing to do with the materialistic. But it does have everything to do with the goodness of God. It’s funny because the words He has dropped on me ever since Fall of 2017, have been: REAP (through 2018), FAVOR (2019), and ABUNDANCE (2020).
Now, 2020 hasn’t quite been the poster child of abundance, has it? Unless you track the abundance of frustration. For example: Covid19, quarantine, job loss, no church going, wearing an abundance of masks, and social distancing. There has been an over-abundance of those things.
Grace
God’s grace has been in abundance to us this past year. We are healthy. We are physically able. We are on no medications. We are financially content (not rich by a long shot).
We live in the present and in His constant presence. We remain in an attitude of gratitude. I take great solace in GAKAT – God Already Knows About This. We never say amen – which translates we pray without ceasing!
Could?
Could things be different? Could some family dynamics be better? Could fill in the blank…
Yes, of course – but I have lived long enough to know that God isn’t finished yet. I believe with all of my heart, mind, and soul that what He begins, He finishes. And, that relates to kids, grandkids, dreams, and hopes.
My grandma knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that God would redeem her family – and He did. She didn’t live on earth to see all of us turn back to Him but I am confident Father opened the windows of heaven for her to see her two grandgirls rededicate their lives to living for Christ. Her complete abundance came in heavenly places.
Abundance
I believe every born-again, follower of Jesus Christ lives in His abundance of grace and mercy. And, when we get to heaven we are going to see abundance as we have never seen it before. It’s what we were created for – heavenly abundance. We are on our way there.
I am looking forward to it.
Are you?

Susan, I love your word for the year – abundance. In a year that has taken away so much from so many, our God lavishes on you and your hubby. And to think our God is not done yet – both here and in heaven. xo
Can we even remotely imagine what Heaven will be like?
Amen, Susan! We have not need to worry when we have the Holy Spirit living within us. We can always have an abundance of peace and joy no matter the circumstances if we keep our eyes on God. Blessings to you, dear sister! xoxo
Yes, we can!!!
Sus…I love your word for 2020 – Abundance! I’m going to go read Isaiah 55 right now!
It’s a good one!!!
What a blessing that Our Lord is to us, thru this whole 2020, He is standing right with us, he hasn’t left us by ourself, he’s walking thru it with us. Our Abba is holding our hand, tight, we just have to hold on and keep our eyes focus on him
We have to be focused on HIM – nothing and no one else!
Yes and Amen. His Abundance of all He has for us is so much I couldn’t imagine it all. I’m older than you and he is not done with me either. This year 2020 has been filled with his abundance. Definitely not materialistic.
He isn’t done until HE TAKES our last breath.
I. Love. This. Post!
His abundance of peace and joy and staycay’s!
God definitely wants to fill us with abundance. And I know for sure that I am abundantly blessed beyond measure.
I feel the same way!
I am also looking forward to that abundance. 🙂 Keep up the good work! Always love to hear your heart.
True abundance is found ONLY IN CHRIST. But you know that!!!
Susan, what a great word for the year! Doesn’t God have the most unexpected lessons for the words He encourages us to focus on?! I’m thankful God’s abundance isn’t dependent on the world we live in.
It depends on nothing of this world!!! KINGDOM ABUNDANCE!
“Abundance ” challenges me to gratitude and sparks my imagination!
AND those are both excellent things!
Never an amen! I love that. And Abundance is on the inside. Love you Susan Shipe.
Patti Krank, we love you BIG.
I love everything about this.
I love everything about YOU!
I would never accuse you of arrogance, Susan! I think the choice of abundance is joyful!
Well thank you Laurie!
