There are a lot of things in our life that we can do something about. We can change the color of our hair. We can change our weight. We can change our clothes. We can change our environment. We can even change our attitude!
Yet, in God’s perfect design, there are ten immutables. Ten unchangeable things that we cannot do a thing about – nor should we! He made us “just the way we are” so we can be all that we can be in Him! Our awesome Father is pleased with us and offers us all grace. He dances and sings over us and takes great pleasure in us.
So, in this Fall season, the season of changes, I encourage you to embrace the ten things about you that are set in stone.
- Parents
- Time in history you were born
- People group
- Nationality
- Gender
- Birth order
- Brothers and sisters
- Physical features
- Mental capacities
- Aging and death
Perhaps next time we can talk about those things that we can change!
Live with passion because you are passionately loved!
Not to be contrary, but those of us whose loved ones have suffered strokes, Alzheimers, or similar tragedies know that mental capacities aren’t set in stone. They can be taken away from someone in a heartbeat, or excruciatingly slowly.
(And #8 hasn’t really been true since plastic surgery was invented.)
“Yet, in God’s perfect design, there are ten immutables.” Thanks for the comment.
Under physical features there are things that we do alter (like hair color and eye color with contacts) or tattoos to hide them but they are basically still unchangeable. The goal of this is to not despise how you are made. Thanks for posting.
Exactly, Laura!
