summer 2014 favorites

by admin on July 16, 2014

One of my least favorite things is that I don’t have a camera and I have to use Google images to convey what my favorite summer things are! But, here we go. This blog is about as SHORT & SWEET as it gets, it’s July remember? Enjoying the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.

Bonfire

Bonfires. Simon, our 11 yr old grandson builds a fantastic fire!

CROCS

My Crocs – have a black pair and a white pair. I LOVE THEM.

Walmart Sheets

Walmart Sheets $18.99 Queen Set – they are like sleeping on a summer breeze!

iced coffee

Iced coffee, with a straw. Has to have a straw.

blueberries1

Fresh-picked blueberries, gathered from our 9 bushes. This year’s crop has been excellent!

berries

Wild blackberries and domesticated raspberries – both abundant this summer!

mowed grass

Freshly mowed grass! Reminds me of my friend Kim, but I can’t tell you why!

porch swing

A good porch swing – we have the best too, my bro-in-law Cliff built it for us! (This isn’t it.)

picnic

Simple, spur-of-the-moment picnics are the BEST.

New River

The New River, which flows through our county, flowing North into Virginia and beyond!

Pond

A pond, which I want so badly I can taste it!

Bible Gateway

www.biblegateway.com

I can look up any passage or address of a scripture and have it right at my fingertips when I’m too lazy to get out my Bible!

What are some of YOUR favorite Summer 2014 things?

Opening the doors so the summer sunshine can pour into the house.
Flip flops. Freshly mowed grass (especially if I don’t have to mow it).
Pink lemonaide.
Shorts, tank tops, car windows down with the breeze blowing through what little hair I have left. Grilling burgers. eating chocolate ice Cream while sitting in our pretty little town and watch people watching me as they saunter through the streets. Hearing the sounds of kids laughing at Bible school. Walking with the summer sun as my jacket. Going barefoot. RED GERANIUMS. It isn’t summer until RED GERANIUMS are sitting in pots on my front porch. My neighbor’s hydrangia hanging with white “snowballs”. Library books all about summer stories. Sunglasses. Full grown maple trees with their branches raised in praise to the Creator who made them. Summer is a brief breath to be taken before winter closes one inside. Freedom. I love summer.

My favorite is probably campfires and s’mores with the family! :) Bible Gateway is a close second for sure!! Now I don’t have to feel as guilty, knowing others use it a lot, too! Thanks for that! :)

Great list, Susan!! I’m not usually a big fan of summer — too hot and humid for me most of the time, but this summer I’m actually enjoying the season. We’ve got tons of berries this year too, yum!

Sitting in my swing, in my secret garden, with my twinkie lights on my trees, bonfires, smell of a summer rain. Clean fresh sheets, that I’ve taken off our line, coming outside early in the morning with my hot tea, to hear the birds sing to Jesus. Working in my flower garden till after 9.00 and then take a nice relaxing bath. Seeing all the flowers in my garden, hearing the grandkids laugh playing in the little pool , going fishing with the grandkids, taking bike rides. Just the smells of Summer!
