lions and lambs

March 2013 is proving to be a lion upon arrival! Today I am sitting in my office watching a blizzard blow across the sepia landscape on the hillside directly across from my window. Every once in a while a spot of red appears in the tree as a bright male Cardinal lights on a branch. Our bird feeder is very busy today and the feathered traffic is rush hour speed! The tale is, in like a lion out like a lamb, correct?

This morning I was thinking about that little phrase and how it relates to this season of passion that is upon us. The Passion of the Christ – like a lamb, He laid down on the altar of sacrifice. He laid Himself down, in obedience to His Father.

Sheep are known to be dumb. Isaiah 53. 7 says, He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.

Sounds insulting to the beloved Son of God, Jesus Christ, doesn’t it? Dumb? Not sticking up for Himself? Not speaking out? A lamb to His own slaughter?

Christ, came in like a lamb. lamb-baby-sheep

But, Church, He is going out as a roaring Lion.

The Lion of Judah, a strong fighter against the enemy. (Genesis 49.8-9)
It is evident that our Lord has risen out of Judah concerning which tribe Moses spoke nothing about priests. (Hebrews 7.14)

The Lion of the Tribe of Judah.  (Revelation 5.5)

No more lamb. No more altar. No more slaughter. No more sacrifice.

The Mighty One – The Risen One – The Exalted One. Lion of Judah Jesus

The Roaring Lion.

For His Bride.

For His Church.

For me.

Do you hear His roar?

Awesome as usual, Susan! I really enjoyed this! YES!!!! I hear the roar. You can hear it in the way the world is behaving. You can hear it in the way Christians are preparing. You can hear the roar.

This was great and I am ready too. I was wondering where the Lion and Lamb concerning March saying came from.

I really liked what you wrote about Hannah.

He protects us like a Lion and treats us as gentle as a lamb. We should follow His examples and use them towards others. What better time than lent to focus on this.
